Fear
A gentle way to meet fear with awareness, steadiness, and care.
Understanding Fear
Fear is a natural human response. It is the body and mind trying to protect you. It can feel strong, uncomfortable, and overwhelming—but it is not a mistake.
Instead of fighting fear or trying to remove it quickly, this approach invites you to meet it gently and directly.
Fear is not the enemy. It is something that can be known.
What Fear Feels Like
Fear may show up as:
- tightness in the chest
- fast thinking
- restlessness
- urge to escape
- difficulty focusing
These are natural expressions of the nervous system.
A Gentle Way to Work with Fear
1. Come Back to the Body
Begin with the Breath. Let yourself settle slightly.
2. Notice the Fear
Use Noting: fear is here, tightness is here.
3. Stay Gently
Allow the experience using Abiding.
4. Add Kindness
Bring a soft phrase using Blessing: this is okay, this can be held.
A Simple Practice for Fear
Breathing is here. Fear is here. I can stay with this for one moment.
You Do Not Have to Remove Fear
The goal is not to eliminate fear instantly. The goal is to change your relationship to it.
When fear is met with awareness and kindness, it often becomes more workable and less overwhelming.
If Fear Feels Too Strong
Start very small. Use Noting Is Enough or return to the Breath.
