What This Site Is About

Pure Mind Abiding is a simple contemplative practice that helps people learn how to remain present with life more calmly and kindly.

Many people live with a restless mind. Thoughts move quickly. Worries repeat. Emotions rise and fall. Life can feel overwhelming.

This site offers a gentle path for working with these experiences.

The practice begins with Calm Abiding, which steadies attention using the breath.
From there, awareness gradually opens into Pure Mind Abiding, where experience can arise and pass naturally within awareness.

Calm steadies the mind.
Pure Mind opens awareness.

The Simple Path

The approach taught here is simple and gentle.

  1. Calm the mind with the breath.
  2. Allow awareness to open.
  3. Rest gently with what is present.

Nothing needs to be forced. Meditation improves through patience and kindness.

Your First Practice

You can try a short practice right now.

Step 1 — Arrive

Sit comfortably in a chair or upright position.
Let the body be supported.
Allow the shoulders and face to soften.

Simply notice that you are here.

Step 2 — Calm Abiding

Bring attention to the natural breath.

Notice the inhale and the exhale.

When the mind wanders, gently return attention to the next breath.

Breathing in, I am here.

Breathing out, I soften.

Step 3 — Pure Mind Abiding

After a few minutes of breathing, allow awareness to open slightly.

You may notice sounds, body sensations, thoughts, or feelings.

Let them arise and pass naturally.

There is nothing you need to control.

Step 4 — Rest Gently

Simply remain aware.

If the mind becomes busy again, return to the breath.

This moment can be held gently.
