Blessing
Bringing kindness and inclusion to what is here.
After you recognize experience with Noting and stay gently with it through Abiding, Blessing invites the heart to soften and include what is present.
What Is Blessing?
Blessing is a quiet, inward movement of goodwill. It is the willingness to meet your experience with kindness instead of criticism, and inclusion instead of rejection.
It can be as simple as a gentle phrase, a softening of the body, or an inner permission for the moment to be as it is.
Nothing here needs to be pushed away. This too can be met with kindness.
Why Blessing Matters
Awareness without kindness can feel dry or effortful. Blessing brings warmth to the practice. It supports healing, reduces inner conflict, and helps difficult experiences feel more workable.
Over time, this gentle inclusion can transform how you relate to fear, shame, sadness, and self-judgment.
How to Practice Blessing
1. Begin with Awareness
Recognize what is here using Noting. Stay with it using Abiding.
2. Soften the Body
Let the shoulders drop slightly. Soften the face. Allow a small easing if possible.
3. Offer a Gentle Phrase
Use a simple inward phrase such as: this belongs, may I be kind to this, let this be held in awareness.
4. Include the Experience
Let the experience be part of your field of awareness rather than something outside of it.
5. Stay Brief and Natural
There is no need to force emotion. Even a small gesture of goodwill is enough.
Simple Blessing Phrases
- This belongs
- May I meet this with kindness
- This too can be held
- I can allow this moment
- Let this be included
Blessing and Healing
When inner criticism softens and inclusion grows, healing often becomes possible. Blessing does not remove difficulty instantly, but it changes your relationship to it.
