Emotional Pain
A gentle way to meet sadness, hurt, and heaviness with awareness and care.
When the Heart Hurts
Emotional pain can feel quiet or overwhelming. It may show up as sadness, heaviness, loneliness, or a sense of loss.
You do not need to push it away. You do not need to fix it right now.
This too can be met, gently.
What Emotional Pain Can Feel Like
- heaviness in the body
- low energy or tiredness
- sadness or tearfulness
- a sense of emptiness
- longing or loss
A Gentle Way to Be With It
1. Come Back to the Body
Begin with the Breath. Let yourself settle.
2. Notice the Feeling
Use Noting: sadness is here, heaviness is here.
3. Stay Gently
Allow the experience using Abiding.
4. Add Kindness
Bring in Blessing: may this be held with care.
A Simple Practice
Breathing is here. Sadness is here. I can stay with this gently.
There Is Nothing Wrong With You
Emotional pain is part of being human. Meeting it with awareness and kindness can slowly change your relationship to it.
If It Feels Too Much
Return to something simple. Use Noting Is Enough or stay with the Breath.
